Working in collaboration with a number of the firm's stakeholders, the incumbent is responsible for a variety of files requiring frequent interaction with clients and associates.

  • U.S. tax planning for Canadian companies expanding into the U.S. to determine U.S. federal corporate tax liability, including nexus determination and U.S. state tax liability;
  • U.S. tax planning for Canadian companies setting up a subsidiary in the U.S., including investment structuring, financing of operations, repatriation of surpluses to Canada, acquisitions of U.S. entities, etc;
  • Review, supervision and coordination of US federal and state tax returns;
  • Knowledge of Earnings and Profits calculations for US tax purposes and surplus calculations for Canadian tax purposes;
  • Assistance with transactional mandates (acquisitions; dispositions and due diligence);
  • Assist and advise customers.
  • Supervise a team and create a team climate conducive to professional development through inspiring leadership;
  • Mentor and coach tax professionals to help them realize their full potential;
  • Be involved in the firm’s growth through training, recruitment and/or business development.
  • CPA designation combined with a Master’s degree in taxation or completion of the CPA/I’ICCA “In-Depth Tax Course”;
  • 4 to 6 years’ experience in U.S. and cross-border corporate taxation for the position of director and manager.
  • 7 or more years’ experience in U.S. and cross-border corporate taxation for the position of Senior Manager;
  • Bilingualism (spoken and written);
  • Excellent command of tax research tools and application software;
  • Thoroughness, a dedicated team player, a collaborative approach and a concern for delivering an optimal customer experience are essential qualities for success in this position.
