PAY EQUITY:
RECALCITRANT EMPLOYERS, KNOW THAT THE COMMISSION IS READY TO STRIKE!

This was the warning issued by Marie Rinfret, President of Pay Equity, on Radio-Canada on July 9.

Under amendments to the Pay Equity Act, all companies with more than 10 employees were required to complete their pay equity program by December 31, 2010.

This autumn, more than 80,000 companies will be required to submit their Pay Equity Declaration, certifying that they have indeed carried out this exercise.

Annual production of a pay equity declaration is mandatory for all companies with 6 or more employees, within the same timeframe as companies are required to file their annual update declaration with the Registraire des entreprises. You can file your annual declaration online at the following address:
www.demes.gouv.qc.ca
.

Don’t risk being caught out. The Commission has hired 22 additional employees to verify compliance and crack down on recalcitrant employers. Fines can reach up to $60,000 for repeat offences.
To minimize the energy spent on this exercise, call in the professionals. Our specialized pay equity team can offer you quality service tailored to your needs.
