Pay equity: Audit in effect

PAY EQUITY: AUDIT OPERATIONS IN EFFECT
All companies registered in the Quebec Register of Enterprises with six or more employees must complete the Déclaration de l’employeur en matière d’équité salariale (DEMES) every year. The Declaration enables the pay equity commission to target its support interventions, identify offenders and impose fines.
The obligation to produce the Employer Declaration of Pay Equity (EDPE) is distinct from the obligation to carry out a pay equity exercise and evaluate its maintenance.
In Quebec, more than 10,000 employers will have to carry out a pay equity exercise!
Are you a target?
Amendments to the Pay Equity Act required all companies with more than 10 employees to have completed their pay equity program by December 30, 2010.
Failure to produce the Declaration or to complete the pay equity exercise is an offence punishable by a fine of $1,000 to $45,000, depending on the number of employees, under section 115 of the Pay Equity Act.
Don’t waste any more time!
