How do I set up a temporary assignment policy?
- Adapt this temporary assignment policy to your facility;
- Develop a bank of tasks to offer;
- Inform workers of the temporary assignment policy by posting this memo where everyone can see it;
- Make these forms available for workers to fill in at their first – and subsequent – medical check-ups;
- If authorized by the doctor, notify the CNESST and the prevention mutual group, then schedule a meeting with the worker to establish the tasks to be performed;
- If the doctor refuses, notify the prevention mutual group and give the worker a new form at each subsequent medical check-up.
Examples of temporary assignments
Temporary assignment may correspond to :
- the worker’s job, provided that the job is suited to his or her functional abilities. If it is not, it can be modified in various ways, for example :
by reducing the number of tasks to be performed or the work schedule;
by adjusting the workload, pace or intensity.
- another job within the company;
- a job consisting of a set of tasks normally performed at different workstations;
- a job created from a set of new productive tasks for the company;
- an existing workstation, but adjusted to the worker’s situation by removing, adding or modifying one or more tasks.
