Every employer is obliged to file an annual Declaration of Wages before March 15 of each year, in order to declare the amount of wages paid for the year in question to the CNESST.
Did you know that you still have to send it in, even if you didn’t pay any wages during the year?
An employer who fails to file the Declaration of Wages on time may be subject to a penalty of $25 per day late, plus interest of up to $2,500.
Why do I have to declare wages?
1. Determine your annual occupational health and safety insurance premium;
2. Check that the total of periodic payments made for the year is sufficient, based on the wages declared.
