Noise: one of the most common occupational health and safety hazards

Did you know that…

A worker whose hearing loss (including tinnitus) is work-related is recognized as a permanent impairment of integrity?

And that…

Today, it is estimated that the average cost of a hearing loss reduction is over $8,000 (APIPP, IRR, medical expenses)?

Is noise a real danger?

Absolutely! Hearing is considered to be at risk from a level of 80 decibels during an 8-hour working day. Exposure to noise can lead to deafness, an irreversible phenomenon recognized as an occupational disease. Noise can cause fatigue and stress, and can affect the nervous, cardiovascular and digestive systems. As well as affecting health, noise can also impair the quality of work and cause accidents.

Since occupational deafness takes several years to develop, and the majority of cases are submitted after the age of 10, 15, 20 or even 55, noise in your workplace can act as a ticking time bomb.

Think about it: noise rarely affects just one employee, but all of them, so it’s a very costly time bomb!
