SME in Action program: a new component to support SME productivity

Investissement Québec has added a program for SMEs to its portfolio. Aware of the impact of the pandemic on local businesses, we are adding a new SME Productivity Support component to the SME in Action program.

WHO IS THIS PROGRAM FOR?

In fact, this program is aimed at for-profit companies with an establishment in Quebec. Cooperatives and social economy enterprises are also eligible. These are organizations with commercial activities in the following sectors:

  • manufacturer;
  • tertiary sector, which includes high value-added companies that make a significant contribution to the production of goods or use new technologies. The companies concerned are generally active in the following sectors:
    • information and communications technologies;
    • environmental services;
    • creative and industrial design services;
    • industrial and scientific service laboratories;
    • private research services;
    • value-added distribution centers.

Other business sectors and companies majority-owned by a state-owned corporation are excluded.

Priority is given to companies qualified under the PerforME strategy.

ELIGIBLE PROJECTS

This section will cover a large number of projects. Here is a list of the types of projects that would be eligible:

  • The realization of projects linked to the implementation of specific actions within the framework of an intervention plan agreed between the company and the Ministry.
  • The aim of these projects is to implement targeted business practices leading to significant productivity gains for the company. Eligible projects include
    • supply chain optimization;
    • implementation of an enterprise resource planning () or customer relationship management ( ) system;
    • compliance with standards, with the aim of achieving world-class production standards;
    • implementation of a costing system.
  • The following projects are not eligible:
    • human resources activities;
    • market development activities.
  • The project’s completion period may not exceed a maximum continuous period of twelve months.
